The purpose of carrying out a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) is to promote sustainable development through better integration of sustainability considerations into the preparation of an emerging planning document. The SA considers the implications of the draft SPD from a social, economic and environmental perspectives by assessing options and the draft SPD’s principles against available baseline and a set of sustainability objectives to achieved positive balanced outcomes for the Borough.
