The Draft Housing Space Standards and Requirement Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) sets out the standard and requirement for new housing in accordance with national, regional and local planning policies and provides guidance and further reference information in order to improve the quality of new housing and to promote sustainable homes. This document covers a range of housing design and quality matters, including the dwelling size, internal layout, residential amenity area, communal waste storage facilities, energy efficiency, water conservation and other environmental performance of new dwellings.
The Draft Housing Space Standards and Requirement Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is non-statutory planning guidance within Croydon's Local Development Framework. The document is prepared to supplement the policies and proposals of the adopted Croydon Replacement Unitary Development Plan (UDP) and the London Plan which together form the development plan for the area.
